LGBTQ+ Basics
for Educators

The LGBTQ+ Basics for Educators workshop is intended to be an introductory training for folks who may not have much background knowledge on the LGBTQ+ community.  This training can be adjusted for educators working in elementary school, middle school, high school, or university settings.

*Can be 1-3 hours long.

*Recommended number of participants: 10-30

All trainings can be adjusted as needed to fit your organization's specific needs​​​

Covered topics:

  • Common terms and definitions

  • Sex assigned at birth, intersex, etc

  • Gender Identity, how gender develops, pronouns

  • Sexuality, different identity labels

  • Identity development in kids/teen/young adults

  • Derogatory and offensive terms to stay away from

  • How to be supportive of LGBTQ+ students

  • Homophobia, transphobia, and what you can do

  • Intersection with racism, fatphobia, and ableism
