Prejudice and Discrimination

The Prejudice and Discrimination Workshop explores negative experiences of the LGBTQ+ community for the purpose of increasing participants' awareness and compassion.  Can be adapted to focus on prejudice in specific contexts (e.g. school system, medical settings, etc.)

*Can be 1-3 hours long.

*Recommended number of participants: 10-30

All trainings can be adjusted as needed to fit your organization's specific needs​​​

Covered topics:

​​

  • Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and "enbyphobia"

  • History of LGBTQ+ rights

  • Discrimination in laws and politics

  • Interpersonal microaggressions

  • Familial prejudice and rejection

  • Impact of prejudice on mental health

  • Intersection with racism, fatphobia, and ableism

*A basic level of LGBTQ+ competency is a prerequisite for this workshop

*This workshop is designed for cisgender, heterosexual participants and may be triggering for LGBTQ+ participants​​

*The topic covered depends on the length of training requested and the participation level of attendees
